Behringer have cloned another classic synth in the form of the Pro-One. The classic mono recreation was revealed on the Behringer Facebook page earlier today (14^th March), pictured alongside the original unit.

While there are no official specs, you can make out from the image that the architecture is similar to the original – two oscilltors, two envelopes, a basic arpeggiator, modulation section and what looks like extra 3.5mm jacks for Eurorack connection.

Google have announced a new touchscreen hardware synth that uses NSynth technology to combine a range of sounds into something entirely new. First previewed by Google last year, NSynth uses machine learning to ‘interpret’ samples and combine them into something entirely new, rather than just combining waveforms.

Korg have announced a brand new poly synth called Prologue. The new 16-voice synth features two oscillators, two envelopes, one filter and LFO as well as new digital effects and what Korg are calling a ‘Multi Engine’. Essentially operating as a third oscillator, Multi Engine offers more synthesis types like FM, as well as providing users with the chance to create their own oscillator wave shapes and save them directly to the hardware.

Behringer's new Oberheim OB-aX clone has been revealed in a post on the Gearslutz forum. The classic poly has long been on the wishlist of producers across the world for its huge, wide, rich sound and was originally used by the likes of Prince, Depeche Mode and New Order.

Behringer have announced yet another classic instrument clone, this time bringing a new vocoder-slash-string ensemble to market. The VC340 had been teased as far back as May last year when eagle eyed synth fans matched a PCB teaser with the layout of the legendary Roland vocoder. Announced on their Facebook page, the news comes off the back of a fluster of activity around Behringer's potential new clones, including a Minimoog clone for only $299.

DSI have been busy of late, collaborating with Pioneer DJ and bringing a classic back to life in the Prophet 6. Now, the updated version of their re-imagined Prophet series is getting a cut-down version in the form of the Prophet Rev2 Desktop Module.

Moog have upgraded their award-winning paraphonic synth Sub 37 with the SUBsequent 37, discontinuing the original model. With a new mixer stage featuring double the headroom of the original, an improved keybed, a redesigned Multidrive stage as well as a tweaked ladder filter for extra harmonic saturation, the SUBsequent 37 builds on what was already an extremely powerful synth. Like the first itieration, the SUBsequent 37 is paraphonic, allowing users to control the pitch of both oscillators independently, for psuedo-polyphony. 

Roland’s SH-101 is a legendary mono synth and according to the Instagram account of Roland employee Nick de Friez, it may be one of the next synths the Japanese giants release as part of their popular Boutique range of mini classics.

Ripplemaker has been developed by Bram Bos as a West Coast-flavoured synth for the iOS platform.

The synth is designed for “exploration and experimentation”. Available modules include a complex oscillator, lowpass gate, FM, mathematical utilities and slope generator.
