Ibiza club Amnesia has announced its closing party for the 2021 season, set to take place on 23rd October. 

Spain plans to incorporate vaccine passports into its safe travel protocol, which may allow tourists to travel to the country and its surrounding islands this summer.

Spanish Tourism Minister Reyes Maroto told journalists on Monday that the government plans to introduce vaccination certificates, or “passports”, into its safe travel corridor scheme, as “an element of safe mobility”.

Ibiza bars and restaurants will be able to open outdoor areas from March.

In a report published today (18th) by Spanish news oulet The Olive Press, it has been announced that the Balearic government will begin their de-escalation plan on the 2nd March 2021, after coronavirus forced clubs, restaurants, bars and other businesses to close their doors.

A new documentary about the spirit of Ibiza will be available to watch for free this weekend. 

Born Balearic: Jon Sa Trinxa and The Spirit of Ibiza, directed by Lily Rinae, is a 70-minute documentary centering around legendary DJ Jon Sa Trinxa, who has played records on the same Ibiza beach for over 25 years.

Spain will be open to tourists by spring, the country's tourism minister says.

After Spain's Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, stated the country would remain shut to international tourists until Autumn, Reyes Maroto, the country's tourism minister, has said in a press conference that Spain will begin to reopen in Spring.

Making the admission last Friday, 26th January, Maroto said that “our priority in 2021 is to reactivate tourism and resume safe mobility on a global scale as soon as possible,” and that a staggered reopening will take place.

Carl Cox will be kicking off the first in a series of livestream fundraiser events for Ibiza Soul Food in aid of Ibiza Food Bank this Saturday, 12th December.  

Ibiza Soul Food is an event series set up by Universe to support the people of the White Isle through the winter - many of whom have been left unemployed and with no income due to the COVID-19 crisis. 

A new book featuring photos of '80s Ibiza has been published.

Titled Ibiza ‘89, the new book captures the spirit of nightlife in the White Isle’s golden age, after Time Out's former nightlife editor, Dave Swindells, spent a week on the island.

Featuring images shot at Ku, Amnesia, Pacha, and Cafe del Mar, the photobook features over 100 photos from Ibiza during its time of peak hedonism, with some famous faces enjoying the clubs, including Culture Club frontman, Boy George. 

José Padilla, a legendary Ibiza DJ known as the “godfather of chillout”, has died following a short battle with colon cancer. He was 64.
